What I made for potluck

--
Carrot, kale and coriander soup
-
2 small branches of purple curly kale from Louis and Rachel's garden
4 sprigs of coriander from my garden, self seeded from last year
couple of mint leaves from my garden
8 or so small carrots from Ceres organic markets
1/4 avocado, organic Queensland
juice of 1/2 lemon from my tree
tsp of cold pressed hemp oil, from pure Delight Queensland
pinch of pink lake salt, packaged by mount zero Victorian company

Raw sushi
-
similar to what I blogged a few days ago, but cauli instead of parsnip (parsnips still win...), and I left out the garden lettuce, because it was too hot and I wanted to simplify my jumping around
1/2 Cauliflower from Ceres organic markets
2 tbs soaked biodynamic Australian almonds
1 tsp ume su, umeboshi plum vinegar from japan
1 tsp agave nectar from Mexico?
pinch pink lake salt from mount zero
Purple cabbage sauerkraut that I made at home with cabbage from Ceres
carrots from Ceres
mung bean sprouts I grew at home with dried beans I bought from Ceres, pretty sure they were Australian
1/2 avocado, organic Queensland
organic nori sheets from japan?

Voilà! Just like that eh?

I also picked yellow nasturtium and orange calendula flowers in case a garnishing moment came up.

Off to the potluck

Today is incredibly sunny and quite hot. In a slightly frenetic action warrior way I tried to make the most of the sun and comply with the lame Sunday public transport timetable. You can see the potential need of actively staying calm and being somewhat strategic with these parameters. I watered the garden, fed the chooks, washed and hung out m clothes and sheets, gave my futon the air and sun it has been craving all winter, delivered eggs and sprouts to my friend, shared breakfast with him (see previous post), talked about our current focuses, made a plan to start 'preparation day' soon (all processed foods can be made from scratch this is more fun and productive when you do it with other people), picked lots of lemons, climbed the fence and offered lemons to my neighbours I'd never met before, made kale, carrot and coriander soup, made another sushi rendition to take to the potluck, sprayed my germinating seed trays every time I thought of it, washed my sprouts, brought futon back inside, brushed teeth, harvested flowers to take with me, put everything in a box and walked up to the bus. Almost an hour apart on Sundays, but I amazingly made the one I was shooting for with 5 minutes to spare, waiting in the hot sun. I hope me and all my produce arrives safely at the end of this long journey to the otherside of the city. There is no air conditioning on the bus and the windows aren't made to open. I'm really excited about attending the botanical cuisine potluck, okay now time to calm down and enjoy the bus ride.

Botanical Cuisine Potluck

This event looks totally amazing!

The second "Botanical Cuisine Potluck"
To Bring: A Botanical Cuisine inspired living food dish to share (for some ideas you might like to visit www.shiitakeblog.com). Plus your own plate, cutlery and cup. *It'd be fantastic too if at least one of the ingredients in your offering was grown at your place... even if it's a simple garnish of home-grown parsley ;-)
What is Botanical Cuisine? - Well, it is raw food, pure and simple. It is the use of fresh produce (seasonal, local & organic wherever possible). It's light & nutritious with minimal use of nuts, seeds and NO dehydration.
Optional cost: Gold coin donation to the TTS Bali Project (read more about this fantastic charity at www.rawtheartoflivingblog.com )
Optional Fun Activity: The "Seasonal Basket Challenge"
