I've just been reading a lot about zeolites, which is a mineral used for detoxing the body of heavy metals. From what I can gather the best product is one called natural cellular defence otherwise known as activated liquid zeolites. You can't buy it easily from shops in australia but there are ways. There is also plenty of reading to be done on the net with most clinically proven trials specifically for NCD.
Key health benefits
removes heavy metals and pesticides
improves nutrient absorption
reduces symptoms of allergies

***** update
Was just talking to a local zeolite distributor and knowlegable superfoods person and he reccomended Zeo One over NCD and other brands. He also said that Australia produces the highest quality zeolites and Zeo One are also free of network marketing (which certainly wasn't sitting well with me), they are also cheaper and more effective which is super exciting. I'm going to get some next week I'll let you know how I go!

Secret cure
The Spleen loves touch. Anything we can do to feed ourselves at this most fundamental level will strengthen the Spleen. Deprived of touch, the human being shrivels up, behaves crazily and sinks into depression. Touch is as fundamental a need as food, so supporting the Spleen also means entering a deeply sensual relationship with the body. To receive bodywork, to cuddle friends and family, to touch oneself lovingly: all these are ways to strengthen the Spleen. Often we focus on food when in fact this other fundamental need, the need for contact, is the secret cure.
Spleen happiness
Just as the Earth is the centre of the cosmos from the viewpoint of a human being, 'Earth's Organ', the Spleen, is seen as holding a central place in the human body. Our well-being can be seen as dependent on our ability to absorb and process nourishment. This is the realm of the Spleen in Chinese medicine. The Spleen is responsible for providing the nourishment which supports all aspects of healthy functioning. It is an Organ of transformation and nourishment.
Through the transforming action of the Spleen food becomes nutritional substances, information is digested and transformed into knowledge and sensual experience is received and transformed into a core sense of well-being. It is also through the Spleen that healing energy is received into the body . The Spleen is responsible for nourishment. A strong Spleen ensures that a person is well nourished. A weak Spleen may result in being undernourished. At the physical level it is possible to eat a good diet yet not be strong enough to convert the food into proper nourishment. At the emotional level one may be in an apparently nourishing situation yet still be unable to receive the available nourishment.
In the history of Chinese medicine whole schools have grown up around the idea that in the treatment of all illness we must first address the Spleen and its paired Organ, the Stomach. Without this central ability to transform food and experiences into nourishment, life lacks its central support. So let us look a little more closely at the realm of the Spleen and how we can support and strengthen Spleen energy.

Complete urban farmer #4 COMPOST
Things I learnt today
* there are four main ingredients needed to make compost - Carbon, Nitrogen, Moisture & Oxygen
* the difference between hay and straw -
Hay is when the whole plant is harvested and cured, such as lucerne, this means the nitrogen is retained
Straw is the fibrous part of a plant that is left after the peas/beans have been harvested, such as pea straw, which means it is mostly carbon
* humus is the stable end product after the decomposition process, ie what compost becomes when is cooked and ready
* Nitrogen - greens, grass clippings, food waste, manure
* Carbon - straw, cardboard, wood chips, leaves
* if anaerobic (if not enough oxygen is present), it is not compost, as the beneficial fungi and bacteria are asleep or dead and some other crazy creatures have taken over
* Fungi store carbon in the soil
* fungi can send out toxins and enzymes across distances to break down leaves and organic wastes so the conditions are favourable for when they arrive there later

More thoughts
The taxi driver who picked me up from out the front of the hospital was gentle and present, in a way it was so normal but after the bright lights and drama of the hospital I was surprised, by his present normalacy. He spoke about how everyone he picks up from the hospital is sad. And I said that one of the big problems of western medicine is that it doesn't recognize that emotional and spiritual health are directly related to the health of the physical body. Everyone in the waiting room is stressed because they are unwell and feel abandoned waiting for an undefinable amount of time in order to be seen by a holy grail doctor, who can only help you if you fit into the right box or simple equation; body + pathogen = handy name brand drug or body + injury / open wound = bandage. I know that is of course a generic and simplistic statement to make and of course there is a huge amount of validity and importance in what the medical profession does and I do not wish to undercut it at all but I think that we need radical new ways of thinking and more education and support to develop our own inner doctors rather than always outsourcing our healthcare. To develop awareness of our innate intelligence. All we need we already have. Presence and participation in our own lives, as performer, creator, instigator of who we really are. All injuries bring new dances. Every moment offers an opportunity to learn something about ourselves, to test our condition, to see where the material of life meets us, where we meet it.

A different way of doing this
Everytime I spend time in emergency wards I am filled with great revelations that this is not a sustainable positive love filled approach to wellbeing and true livliness and we really need a new and integrated way of doing this. More thoughts to come.
